Tamil Heritage Month is here and Heritage Mississauga is bringing you stories of Mississauga residents that are sure to inspire!

Tamil Heritage Month is an opportunity to remember and reflect on the important economic, charitable and public service contributions that Tamil Canadians have made to communities like Mississauga.

With funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Heritage Mississauga staff worked on a project where we interviewed people who immigrated to Mississauga from around the world.

From these interviews, we have created articles to share with you and we will also be featuring podcast episodes from people involved.

Our first set of articles includes individuals of Sri Lankan and Tamil heritage.

Heritage Mississauga would like to thank Gaya Nagendra, Dileeni Lukmalie Weerasinghe, and Tharany Thiyagarajah for sharing their personal stories and experiences with us for this important project commemorating Mississauga’s Cultural Heritage.

#ApartTogether we continue to research, record, and celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of our beautiful city.
