Welcome to our 22st installment of “Ask a Historian”.

Every week Heritage Mississauga will be taking questions about the history and heritage of Mississauga which our Historian, Matthew Wilkinson, will answer on Thursday afternoons.

#ApartTogether, Heritage Mississauga is the source for inquiries and curiosity about our beautiful city as we continue our mandate to research, record and celebrate the diverse heritage of Mississauga.

This week Matthew discusses Canadian icons and anniversaries with guests Dave Cook, author and Historian, Stephanie Meeuwse, Collections Supervisor from the Museums of Mississauga, and Keith Moreau.

Matthew and his guests will discuss the fascinating history of the $75,000,000 flying saucer built in Malton, the anniversary of Benares Historic House and Canadian hero, Terry Fox.

Historian and Author Dave Cook has generously offered to donate $5.00 from every purchase of his book “Fading History Vol. 1: Stories of Historical Interest” to Heritage Mississauga.

Fading History is a fascinating book covering historic events, people, inventions and anecdotes about Mississauga.

Heritage Mississauga is greatly appreciative of Dave’s continued support, passion for history, extensive knowledge, and his firsthand stories of Mississauga’s history.

You are invited to email us questions you have about Mississauga and we encourage you to send a short (less than 1 minute) MP4 video of your question, which we may feature in one of our “Ask a Historian” videos.

Any questions not featured in our videos will receive a written response from Matthew.

We would also love to feature questions from young Mississauga residents who are curious about their city and will feature a dedicated video to these inquisitive kids.
