Join Historian Matthew Wilkinson for our next episode of “Ask A Historian” on August 19 2021 on our YouTube channel.

This week Matthew interviews John Eigl, Historical Researcher at Heritage Mississauga, on the laborious but rewarding process of researching Mississauga’s connections to the Second World War.

John Eigl has recently graduated from McMaster University’s History program and will begin his graduate studies at the University of Waterloo in September 2021.

He has worked with Heritage Mississauga for the past two Summers as a Historical Researcher. In this role, John has focused on researching servicemembers from historic Mississauga who lost their lives during the Second World War.

In addition to his biographical work, John has also conducted historical property research.

#ApartTogther we continue to research, record, and celebrate the history of our fallen soldiers, Our Boys.

You are invited to email us questions you have about Mississauga and we encourage you to send a short (less than 1 minute) MP4 video of your question, which we may feature in one of our “Ask a Historian” videos.

Any questions not featured in our videos will receive a written response from Matthew.

We would also love to feature questions from young Mississauga residents who are curious about their city and will feature a dedicated video to these inquisitive kids.
