Welcome to our 26th installment of “Ask a Historian”.

Every week Heritage Mississauga will be taking questions about the history and heritage of Mississauga which our Historian, Matthew Wilkinson, will answer on Thursday afternoons.

#ApartTogether, Heritage Mississauga is the source for inquiries and curiosity about our beautiful city as we continue our mandate to research, record and celebrate the diverse heritage of Mississauga.

Join Historian Matthew Wilkinson on our YouTube channel Thursday November 12, 2020 for our latest episode of “Ask a Historian”.

This week Matthew will be examining our city’s historical connection to the First and Second World Wars and remembers some of the inspiring feats of heroism of those involved in the conflicts that touched home in Mississauga.

Matthew welcomes special guests Rob Stanczyk, Curator, and Justine Lyn, Volunteer Curatorial Assistant, from the Museum and Archives of the Polish Armed Forces, and Darin Wybenga, Traditional Knowledge Keeper and Land Use Coordinator of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, as they discuss some of the fascinating stories of those who served and explore how they found comfort and levity during very difficult times.

#ApartTogether we continue to research, record and celebrate the stories of those who have served and continue to serve.

You are invited to email us questions you have about Mississauga and we encourage you to send a short (less than 1 minute) MP4 video of your question, which we may feature in one of our “Ask a Historian” videos.

Any questions not featured in our videos will receive a written response from Matthew.

We would also love to feature questions from young Mississauga residents who are curious about their city and will feature a dedicated video to these inquisitive kids.
