Heritage Mississauga’s the Credits are back for a virtual celebration honouring Mississauga’s Heritage Heroes for their contributions and achievements in preserving, celebrating, educating, and supporting our community heritage.

Our theme this year is resilience which is defined as the process for adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress.

Mississauga has demonstrated its resilience over the last two years. As a city we have come together to support and strengthen our communities, and we are ready for a little celebration and acknowledgement of those have gone above and beyond, and have been recognized as a Heritage Hero.

The Credits celebrates cultural heritage, volunteer contributions, achievements, philanthropy, community leaders, youth, natural heritage, Indigenous heritage, historical and modern heritage, and architectural development in Mississauga.

This year we will be honouring:

Lifetime Achievement Award:

Barbara O’Neil

For over 20 years Barbara has been a selfless advocate for the heritage of the city, dedicating her time as a member of the Board of Heritage Mississauga and giving of her time to its programs and events.

 Heritage Business Leader Award:

Gabriella and Sandor Bank, Sanborg Productions

Gabi and Sandor are committed to serving their community providing valuable service recording their milestone events and programs ensuring that memories are captured and preserved.

Heritage Champion Awards:

Larry Petovello

As the former Director of Economic Development Larry helped the City to grow and prosper. In his retirement Larry continues to support his community giving selflessly of his time and expertise to help a number of community causes.

Mario Pascucci

Mario Pascucci, has served as a Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Trustee for over 30 years. As a volunteer he has given of his time and expertise to a number of community causes. 

Mississaugas of the Credit Cultural and Heritage Award:

Carolyn King

For over 30 years Carolyn King has been an ambassador for her people.  She has made a life-long commitment to help people develop a better understanding of Indigenous/First Nations Peoples of Canada. 

Chairman’s Awards:

Maureen Ellis

Through her role at the City or as a community volunteer Maureen has dedicated her time, insight and guidance to supporting organizations raise much needed funds to enable development of programs and services. 

Patricia Hammill

Wherever there is a need in the community and a good cause, you will find Patricia, helping to raise funds and lending her time for the causes that help strengthen our city and benefit its citizens. 

Manny Castellino

Manny is the epitome of an exceptional volunteer!  He gives and gives without ever expecting anything in return.  Service above self!  He just believes it’s the right thing to do. 

President’s Awards:

 George Habib

George has given his time and energy to supporting many causes in his community, helping youth achieve their goals and fundraising to support programs and services.

 

Ross Noel – Stonehooker Brewery

Stonehooker Brewery was born out of a love of history and the schooners along the shores of  Port Credit. Ross has created a thriving business and has kept a little known story alive in our hearts.
