June 1st kicks off #PrideMonth2022!

Pride month raises awareness about the inequities, homophobia, and barriers faced by the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Canada and recognizes that we all have a role in creating a more inclusive society.

Pride Month is held in June to commemorate the Stonewall Riots which began on June 28,1969 in response to a raid by New York City police at the Stonewall Inn, a gay club located in Greenwich Village in New York City. The raid sparked a liberation movement.

The first Pride celebration was held in Toronto three years after the Stonewall Riots. Today the month of celebration is known around the world.
The 2SLGBTQ+ communities have fought for decades for acknowledgement, inclusion, equal rights, to be their authentic self, safety, and there is still a long way to go.
Heritage Mississauga supports an inclusive workplace and safe spaces for all communities.

We celebrate our #Pride in heritage!
