Manufacturing

Mississauga has a history of brickyards, some later converting into oil refineries which some still continue to manufacture today. The companies today have continued to grow and progress as our city has grown. Across Mississauga the range of manufacturing capacity has grown and decreased throughout our history. Many starting companies held different consumer manufacturer connections and relations compared to what they have amounted to today. St. Lawrence Starch began production 1889 in Port Credit this began a shift towards exporting manufactured resources. Products began to expand to a wider reach, across Canada. Presently the connection between the communities and the companies has changed. The footprint required has increased and the business relationships have been modified due to the exporting of product.
