Historic Mississauga was home to many inns and hotels, some of which catered to the needs of local businesses and people, while other were geared to attract tourists during the summer months. All of them, over time, served as hubs of social and community gatherings. The opening of a new hotel was often covered in great detail in historic newspapers, and the closing or loss of an historic inn was universally lamented. Although some survive on our landscape today, most of the buildings that once served as inns or hotels have been lost over time, leaving historic images as one of the only memories of this earlier time.
