For African Canadians, the American invasions of Upper Canada during the War of 1812 posed a dangerous threat to their lives and freedoms. This presentation given by Gareth Newfield a former historian and researcher with Parks Canada and the Canadian War Museum, will seek to place the service of African Canadians in its military and historical contexts, and explore the roles of African Canadians in some of the key events of the War of 1812 in Upper Canada.

War of 1812 Bicentennial Symposium
